Vematrack bottom rollers & top rollers for
excavators & bulldozers

bottom rollers and top rollers

VemaTrack offers a complete range with its rollers for both excavators and bulldozers from 0.8 to 100 tons. We produce all bottom rollers and top rollers based on OEM specifications. The production is finished on high-tech CNC machinery with precision tools, high-grade seals and bronze bushings (bimetal).

We have designed the bottom and top rollers with reinforced flanges and unique VemaTrack seals. We forge high-quality steel using a special method. Heat treatments make the excavator rollers or dozer rollers extra tough and thus wear-resistant. This guarantees a long service life, even with intensive use.

Bottom Rollers

Bottom rollers provide for the undercarriage clearance height. The combination of the link height and the installation height of the bottom roller defines the undercarriage height increase. There is consequently no load on the front wheel, the sprocket and the final drive of the machine. When the chain links and the bottom rollers wear, the machine’s undercarriage will drop, so that the load is exerted on the front wheel, the sprocket and the drive motor. These components can subsequently break.

Various different bottom rollers are used for excavators, mini excavators and bulldozers.

Different types of bottom rollers

Bottom rollers for excavators have a thick axle for bearing the machine’s weight These bottom rollers have a smaller running surface diameter, because the machines do not need to do much mobile work.

Bottom rollers for mini excavators have the same characteristics as the bottom rollers of larger excavators. However, these bottom rollers have more types of mountings in the undercarriage, depending on the type and the tracks used.

Bottom rollers for bulldozers have a large running surface, because they do mobile work. Various different types of flanges are mounted alternately to better guide the track link. The bottom rollers have a larger oil reservoir, so that the roller can be cooled sufficiently.

How can you recognise the wear patterns of bottom rollers?

Some common wear patterns of bottom undercarriage rollers are:

  • Bottom rollers wear on the running surface.
  • The flanges wear through tilting or when turning the machine when lifting.

Top rollers

Top rollers carry the chain and the track shoes.

how can you recognise the wear patterns of top rollers?

Top rollers often have different wear patterns than bottom rollers. Common wear patterns of top rollers are: wear on the running surface, wear on the flange and roller leakage. You can recognise wear by: a broken or bent support, a sagged top roller axle, an improperly aligned roller or a stuck roller. If a top roller has a flat side, this means that the top roller is stuck. This is usually caused by sand and/or mud between the top roller and the undercarriage. Regular cleaning of the undercarriage is part of the daily maintenance and helps to prevent this.
