How do you measure your rubber tracks?

When your excavator’s rubber tracks are wearing out, you will eventually need to replace them. When ordering new tracks, it is important that you have the right size, as otherwise there is a chance that the new tracks will not fit. When requesting a quote, it helps us a lot if you give us the measurements of your tracks.

Sometimes, the dimensions of your rubber tracks are listed on the inside, but this is not always the case. In that case, you can measure the dimensions yourself. We explain how to do this below.

Measuring the width of your rubber tracks

You measure the width of your rubber tracks simply by measuring the outside of the track with a tape measure, for example.

Measuring the pitch of the rubber tracks

You can measure the pitch of the rubber tracks with a tape measure or caliper. You measure from the centre of the bushing to the centre of the bushing. This is easiest to measure if you raise your undercarriage on one side.

Adding up the number of links on the track

If you have raised the undercarriage on one side, you can also easily add up the number of links.

The width, pitch and number of links of your rubber tracks are useful to know when you need new tracks. This allows us to find you new, alternative rubber tracks that will fit your excavator with certainty.
